Charles, run a primary wire to your steering column and use the brown wire in the ignition switch harness. This brown wire will provide you with a switched power source. We suggest you invest in some solid wire taps that wont come loose. These wire tap connectors will allow you to tap into wires without cutting and installs in seconds by hand with no crimping or tools required. I am trying to find a switched lead to power my XM radio receiver. I currently have it attached to the power takeoff which is not switched. This is on a 2005 Ford Explorer.
