Thanks for the help but i have a question?……what color is the wire that powers the sub in the console mine is busted and i want to disconnect it….thanks David
The subwoofer is powered by it’s own amp located in the console. The wires, are the same as the r and l rear speakers. The sub has 4 wires going to it. If the speaker is shot, as with most Wranglers, Pyramid 6.5″ Subwoofer Speaker will fit right in there and the cost is less than 25.00 vs 250. for the factory speaker. The Pyramid is light years ahead of the stock in the sound department!
Craig, thanks for the 2004 Jeep Wrangler subwoofer speaker replacement information contribution!
i recently wired a sony explode stereo in a 2004 jeep wrangler. every thing works normally when on the tuner mode. when i go to play a cd or turn on the auxiliary mode every thing works like normal except i dont have any sound coming out of the sub woofer. i am confused as to why the sub would work on the radio tuner mode, but wont work in the aux and cd modes.
Jimmy, it sounds like you wired your amplifier turn on wire to your antenna wire. This is the reason your subwoofer amplifier only turns on when you use your radio but not with your aux or CD mode. Double check your wiring and make sure your amplifier turn on wire is wired correctly. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2004 Jeep Wrangler amplifier wiring.
