  1. Amber, we suggest you purchase an automotive auxiliary input adapter. This adapter will allow you to input any Apple iPod, mp3 player or portable music player into your factory radio. This is the easiest and most cost effective way to add an audio input into your factory stereo. Here is the adapter you will need:

If you’ve never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2003 Nissan Xterra aux input adapter installation.

  2. I have a 2003 Nissan Xterra with the 6 cd in-dash rockford Fosgate stereo. We have been trying to figure out how to hook up an I-pod jack. Is there a spot already back there or do I need to buy something special? So confused please help.

  3. Jimmy, first double check ALL your fuses and make sure ALL your fuses are good. You can do this by using an Automotive Fuse Tester and making sure all of your fuses are not blown. If all of your fuses are good, your 2003 Nissan Xterra may have a factory amplifier that is faulty. Hope this points you in the right direction. Good luck with your 2003 Nissan Xterra stereo installation.

  4. I have a 2003 Xterra Se with the Rockford Fosgate stereo and the sound just stopped working nothing from the cd player or either band on the radio I tried looking at the fusebox to see if the amp had a fuse listed on the diagram but didn’t find one this problem was sudden one day it worked and the next it was gone. Thanks to anyone that can help. Jimmy

  5. Alex, technically you could connect your 2003 Nissan Xterra amplifier turn on wire to the radio switched 12v+ wire (blue). That way your amplifier is on whenever your 2003 Nissan Xterra is on and off whenever your 2003 Nissan Xterra is off. Just make sure to run an in-line fuse holder with a 1-amp fuse on the amplifier turn on wire. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2003 Nissan Xterra amplifier install.

  6. I have a 2003 xterra, im working on putting a system in it, it still has the original radio, is there no remote wire? im so confused on how to do it.

  7. The above schematics didn’t work for my 2003 Nissan Xterra. I used a voltage meter to isolate the individual cables and found the bellow schematics to be correct for my car. Again, I have a 2003 Nissan Xterra (manual transmission and not the premium sound package). Since there seems to be a lack of information about this particular Xterra, I would check the wires before you continue. I take no responsibility if your Xterra is different.

Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Red/Yellow
Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Green/Red
    Car Radio Ground Wire: Pink/Black
Car Radio Dimmer Wire (headlights on): Blue/Red
Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Blue
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Black/White
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Brown
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Black/Red
Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Green
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Black/Yellow
Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Orange
Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Black/Pink

    * One thing to note, the rear speaker wires are the thickest gauge (more so than even the power wires), presumably because those wires have to run to the back of the Xterra.
