Ruben, it sounds like your alarm system is in valet mode. Valet mode disables the alarm system but keep the keyless entry functions. The alarm system may still be in working order but just needs valet mode to be turned off. It would be hard to say how to turn off valet mode because different alarm systems have different procedures to turn valet mode off. Our advice would be to take your car to an experienced car alarm installer. They would be able to identify your alarm and should be able to turn off valet mode in a matter of a couple minutes. Ann, if you do not have your factory alarm remote, simply put your main key into the driver side key hole and unlock your vehicle manually. By unlocking your vehicle with the key, you are manually turning off your factory alarm and your alarm will not honk when you open the door. If you have the alarm remote and it does not disarm your vehicle, you may have to get it re-programmed by the dealer. Hope this helps. Good luck.
The battery went dead on my 2003 Honda Pilot just after a friend had borrowed it and left the key inside the car. I had planned to use the key fob which I still had to gain entry and get the key. As my luck would have it, the car battery decided to go dead and I could not get in and did not attempt to solve the problem for several days until my husband returned home from out of town. We do not have a spare key but went to the dealer and got a “dummy” key which got us into the car. But every time we tried to jump it off, just as we placed the last clamp to ground the alarm goes off and will not stop. What can we do? The owners manual does not indicate which fuse handles the alarm. Can you help? Does the car think it is being stolen? Any suggestions?
