Will it affect my air bags or door chime if I install an after market radio by simply connecting the necessary wires without a wiring harness? The model I have doesn’t have on-star.
In most cases, the installation of an after market radio in your 2003 Chevrolet Suburban will not affect the air bags and/or door chime.
hi i have a 02 suburban and when i put in the aftermarket cd player it doesnt always have sound i used one of the wire harnesses that just plugs in to the factory harness but sometimes i will start the truck and everthing works fine and then somtimes the cd player works fine but there is no sound at all to the speakers is this somthing to do with the built in amp or the onstar and what can i do to get sound 100% of the time instead of the 50% i get it now
is there a way i can add an RCA output from my factory stereo to an aftermarket amp? or can i switch the factory amp with an aftermarket one? i dont want an aftermarket stereo headunit, so that wont be an option for me. thanks
Alex, most late model vehicles do not have RCA outputs on the factory radio to feed an audio signal to your aftermarket amplifier. You would have to install a line out converter to supply an audio output. Here is the Line-Out Converter you need:
Scosche 2-Channel Speaker to RCA Line Out Converter
When splicing in the RCA Line Out Converter, tap your factory rear speaker wires to get a full range audio source. We suggest you invest in some solid wire taps that wont come loose. These wire tap connectors will allow you to tap into wires without cutting and installs in seconds by hand with no crimping or tools required. If you’ve never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2003 Chevrolet Suburban amplifier installation.
