  1. Josh, you will need some aftermarket electronics to hook up a subwoofer to your 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora factory stereo. You will need five components:

    1. Car Subwoofer
    2. Car Subwoofer Box to house your car subwoofer.
    3. Car Audio Amplifier that matches your subwoofer power needs and ohm rating.
    4. Car Amplifier Wiring Kit that can handle the power needs of your amplifier.
    5. RCA Line Out Converter to feed an audio signal from your factory radio to your aftermarket amplifier.

First run all your amplifier power from your car battery to where you plan on mounting your amplifier. Next, run your ground wire from your grounding point to your amplifier. Instead of wiring your RCA Line Out Converter to your factory amplifier, wire it to the rear speaker wires to get a full range audio source. Next, connect one end of your RCA jacks to the Line Out Converter and the other end of the RCA jacks to your amplifier. This will provide an audio signal to your after market amp. Lastly, connect your subwoofer to your after market amplifier using the speaker wire in the amplifier wiring kit. If you’ve never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora amplifier and subwoofer installation.

  2. Hi, I have a 2001 oldsmobile Aurora with an 8-speaker bose sound system, and I’d like to install an aftermarket amp and subwoofers. I’ve done some research and it seems that it can be installed like most normal stereos except that I’m supposed to tap into the input signals for the factory amp. I can’t seem to find a proper schematic or color code on them, or a remote wire to use. I’d like to do this myself if i can instead of spending a couple hundred dollars to have it done professionally. Can you give me any advice, tips or tricks?

  3. Josh, you can gain access to your 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora speaker wires at the rear of your factory stereo. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora speaker installation.

  4. Probably a pretty silly question considering how old my car is, but…. does anyone know if that year stereo system came satellite radio equipped? I have a Bose system in the car, which sounds as good today as it did when I bought the car. I got an Onxy XM radio to go in the car, but really don’t want to mess with the integrity of the car tring to install the thing. Was wondering if the radio that’s in it is XM ready?…. Anyone?…. Thank you!
