  1. when hooking up the illumination wire to a new stereo what function do i hook it up to or what colored wire does it go to? anyone? thank you for your time.

  2. Dave, the safest way to test of which terminal is positive and which is negative is to invest in a multimeter. Take the red probe (positive side) and touch one of the speaker terminals. Now take the black probe (negative side) and touch the remaining speaker terminal. If the reading on the meter shows a positive voltage reading then the red probe is touching the positive speaker terminal and the black probe is touching the negative speaker terminal. If the meter shows a negative voltage reading then the red probe is touching the negative speaker terminal and the black is touching the positive speaker terminal. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2001 Kia Spectra speaker polarity testing.

  3. I am replacing the door and rear speakers in my 2001 kia spectra. I only have the right front ready to go,and the wires are white with a green stripe and white with a black stripe. Which is positive and which is negative? Are the others different on the speaker ends too? Thanks.

  4. Tim, the illumination wire is used to dim the radio display when your parking lights are on because its night time and brighten the radio display when your parking lights are off because its daytime. Hope this helps. Good luck.
