Saam, it sounds like your 2001 BMW X5 factory amplifier needs to be turned on by your radio. The car stereo amplifier trigger wire has to be wired up to turn on your factory amplifier otherwise you will not get any audio. Make sure your 2001 BMW X5 amp turn on is wired. Good luck with your 2001 BMW X5 stereo troubleshooting.
I was trying to install an aftermarket unit but when i got the wiring harnnes adapter 70-9003 i noticed the actual wire harrnes for the car has only 4 wires for the speakers instead of 8 like the adapter has it??. i got everything connected and the new radio power up but i get no sound, i thought it was the speakers but i put back the factory radio and they r fine…like i said is the 4 wires mising in the car harnnes. These any way i can make it work or do i need another kind of adapter?
My 2001 BMW has Nav and DSP. So the “head unit” is just a controller and the all the “brains” are in the rear or the vehicle. What is the wiring diagram for my radio in the dash? I am trying to put in an aftermarket head unit, but I can’t find the wiring for my radio anywhere. I am assuming since I have a cassettee player in the head unit there has to line level signal running to the amplifier, which wires are these?
