Shellie, you may have mixed up the battery constant and accessory switched wires. The battery constant always sends power to the radio to save your radio stations and other audio settings. The accessory switched wire sends power to your radio only when the key is in the ignition and your 2000 Hyundai Sonata is on. Check your wiring and make sure the correct radio wires are hooked up to the correct wires on your factory harness. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2000 Hyundai Sonata radio installation.
i have recently replaced my factory car stereo and we r not able to keep the memory nor do we know what the illumination wire is for. does any one know?
I too have a 2000 Hyundai Sonata. I just recently replace all of the interior speakers with Kicker KS series 6×9″ and 6.5″ speakers. I installed the rear speakers first which worked great and provided a considerable improvement. Here’s the problem: When i installed the front speakers i tested the originals and they worked perfectly fine. I made sure i disconnected the negative terminal before anything, swapped the speakers out, and out of nowhere there is no sound on either side. I also disconnected the tweeters thinking that maybe there was a stock crossover that was sending the wrong frequencies but still no good. Is this because there is not enough power being supplied? Wires when bad for no reason? Fuses broken? My new Pioneer CD deck comes in soon so maybe when i install it the speakers will be fixed.
