Trying to program a new keyless remote for my 1999 Toota tacoma. Where is the alarm ECU? thanks
Gary, not all alarms are the same and may be programmed differently. You have to find out what alarm system you have in your car before you can have it removed or turned off. Our advice is to take your car to a local Toyota dealer or an experienced alarm installer and have them take a look at it. Hope this helps. Good luck.
I have a 1999 Toyota Tacoma SR5 with a factory alarm system that I want to disable–I never use it and recently had a problems with it when my battery went dead and I did not have the on/off key with me when this happened. Even thou I did not have the alarm system set the system was engaged when I put in a new battery. Do I have to go to the dealer to have it disabled? I am not positive it is a factory alarm. The on/off key does not have the Toyota name on it. Rather the key has FCC-IDEL\AT6C and another name I cannot read.
Charles, technically you can disconnect the power plug going the door lock actuator in your passenger door. This would mean your power locks would not lock or unlock that door and would make it a manual lock. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Is it possible to unhook the wiring leading to the passenger lock without undoing any other wiring? Would this work to just make it a manual lock? I am having a problem with it and dont want to have it fixed right now. Thanks.
