  1. Marissa, double check ALL your fuses using an Automotive Fuse Tester and make sure all of your fuses are not blown. If all of your fuses are good, you may have shorted out your 1999 Pontiac Grand Am stereo or you may have shorted out the wiring going to your head unit. We suggest you take your car to an experienced audio installer and have them troubleshoot your problem. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1999 Pontiac Grand Am radio troubleshooting.

  2. My boyfriend has a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am, and I bought him an after market stereo for Christmas. I went to install it, and I have done over a dozen stereos before, and it worked for a second and then stopped. I believe the stereo is messed up itself. He drove it for a few days, and went to start it the other morning and now it won’t start…. When you have the key in and ON only have the dash lights come on and if you push on the brake they turn off. Also, when you remove the key from the ignition the dome lights flicker for awhile… I have no idea what is going on and if it has anything to do with the stereo wire?! Please Help!

  3. Jeff, double check ALL your fuses using an Automotive Fuse Tester because certain vehicles may have a wire tied into another circuit not labeled as car radio. You may have additional fuse boxes by the driver side of the dash, passenger side of the dash, driver kick panel, passenger kick panel, under the steering column or under the hood. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1999 Pontiac Grand Am radio troubleshooting.

  4. ModifiedLife, I just got a 1999 pontiac Grand Am and the stock wiring harness has been cut off, so now all I see is all the wires that USED to be connected to the wiring harness. Matched everything that i could up with my new stereo im putting however i have no power from the constant and no power to my stereo at all?? Any Ideas

  5. Ryan, you can fit a single DIN radio. Here are the components you need to install an aftermarket single DIN stereo in your 1999 Pontiac Grand Am:

Single DIN Car Stereo for 1999 Pontiac Grand Am
Radio Wire Harness for 1999 Pontiac Grand Am
Single DIN Dash Kit for 1999 Pontiac Grand Am

With the car stereo wiring harness and car radio dash kit, you should be able to install your after market radio with ease. If you’ve never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1999 Pontiac Grand Am stereo installation.

  6. i have a 1999 pontiac grand am es and was wondering if there were any double din stereos that fit better than others. or if there was a double din to single din converter that fits in the stock mount?

  7. I recently went to replace my door speakers this weekend. But when pulling off my door panel and removing the speaker I seen the wires attached to the speaker are not the normal color patterns I normally see on GM cars. The left (driver side) door speaker wires were Dark Red and Light Red. So this has thrown me for a loop. Any suggestions. Thank you.

  8. Sean, unfortunately the only place you can get a replacement factory harness is from your local Pontiac dealer or if you’re lucky you can find one at a local junk yard. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  9. ModifiedLife, I just got a 1999 Grand Am and the stock wiring harness has been cut off, so now all I see is all the wires that USED to be connected to the wiring harness. Do you know where I could get a replacement stock wiring harness. I see all these after market ones but im not sure if they will work. Could you point me in the right direction? Thanks!

  10. Connor, there are aftermarket ipod adapters available for most late model cars. Unfortunately, as far as we know, there isn’t one available for a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am. Good luck on your search.

  11. I would like to be able to connect my iPod to the stereo system via the 3.5mm headphone jack on my iPod. How could I attach the wires from the headphone cord to the input in the stereo console?

  12. Akron, you may have mixed up the battery constant and accessory switched wires. The battery constant always sends power to the radio to save your radio stations and other audio settings. The accessory switched wire sends power to your radio only when the key is in the ignition and your car is on. Check your wiring and make sure the correct radio wires are hooked up to the correct wires on your factory harness. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  13. I am having a problem installing my radio. The problem is that when I set my pre-sets and then I turn off my car, and when I turn on my car again my pre-sets are gone. Please help me with this problem I thank you in advance..
