Maureen, you may have mixed up the battery constant and accessory switched wires. The battery constant always sends power to the radio to save your radio stations and other audio settings. The accessory switched wire sends power to your radio only when the key is in the ignition and your 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 is on. Check your wiring and make sure the correct radio wires are hooked up to the correct wires on your factory harness. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 radio installation.
1999 dodge ram 2500. When I turn off the ignition, the stereo resets. (clock, stations..). There were a couple of extra wires from the dash, an orange and a green that were not mentioned in the above diagram. Suggestions?
Greg, first double check ALL your fuses and make sure ALL your fuses are good. You can do this by using an Automotive Fuse Tester and making sure all of your fuses are not blown. If all of your fuses are good, your 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 may have a factory amplifier that needs to be turned on by your after market radio. The car stereo amplifier trigger wire has to be wired up to turn on your factory amplifier to output sound from your speakers. Hope this points you in the right direction. Good luck with your 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 stereo installation.
the front speakers are 6×9
the rear speakeres are 5 1/2
i put all the speakers in one at a time and everything worked perfectly with the stock deck but as soon as i put my sony aftermarket deck in i have no sound on any speaker iv matched all of the wires with the corresponding colours for my deck but i still have no sound
does anyone know the location of the factory amps in the 99 dodge ram?
brian, i also have a 99 dodge ram and had the same problem. you didnt say what stereo you put in the truck but it should have a blue wire on the aftermarket wiring harness that is probably unused. the stock wiring harness also has a blue wire that goes straight to the stock amp in the dash installed by the dodge factory. with the ignition off connect the two blue wires together and you should have music. if not it could be a bad ground or the stock amp is bad. also buy a direct plug install kit for that truck at your local stereo install shop, the kit makes for a clean install.
Brian, one reason you may not be getting any sound is because your factory amplifier might faulty and needs replacement. Another reason you may not be getting any sound is because your vehicle may have a factory amplifier that needs to be turned on by your after market radio. The car stereo amplifier trigger wire has to be wired up to turn on your factory amplifier. Unfortunately, we do not have this information but maybe someone from the Modified Life community can post that information here. Hope this helps. Good luck.
I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel Truck and recently the speakers all quit. It started with what sounded like a short in the passenger door speaker then all speakers went out at the same time. No loud music so the did not blow. I pulled the aftermarket stereo (that had been in for several years) and reinstalled the factory radio head with the same problem. Stereo powers up and everything looks to be working fine but no sound of any kind at any speaker. I removed the speaker in the door on passenger side and it has a bundle of wires attached that appear to power all other speakers in vehicle. I have never seen this setup before. Could the box on the speaker with this bundle have failed?
i need to buy all new speakers for my 1999 dodge ram 2500 V10 8.0L extended cab what size speakers do i need for the front door and the back doors? any certain watts?
