  1. @99Burban Thanks alot! Did an install on my 99 last night was disappointed to realize I had no rear speaker output! Thanks again.

  2. My sons 1999 Suburban speakers in his back doors were not working either. based on the above info we just hooked to the pink wire mentioned and instantly the speakers in the back foor work.

  3. 99Burban, thanks for the 1999 Chevrolet Suburban factory amplifier wiring information contribution!

  4. Just posting this in case people are having trouble with their rear door speakers not working after replacing the stock stereo with an aftermarket one.

My 99 Suburban has 8 speakers. (2 Front door tweeters, 4 door speakers, and 2 speakers in the rear ceiling) When I first connected my aftermarket Sony stereo, my rear door speakers where not working. I found that the there is indeed an OEM amplifier installed for the rear door speakers. The trigger wire for the AMP is pink at the wiring harness. Connect the blue amplifier wire from the stereo to the pink AMP trigger wire, and you should be in business.

  5. On my 1999 Suburban my rear door speakers and the roof mounted speakers are not playing. The roof mounted speakers are only playing the higher treble sounds. The front speakers are fine. I replaced the radio with another Chevrolet radio that I know works fine and it does the same thing. How can I run down this problem? If I have to wire up new wires, any suggestions on incorporating the two sets of rear speakers? anyone?

  6. Gill, first double check ALL your fuses and make sure ALL your fuses are good. You can do this by using an Automotive Fuse Tester and making sure all of your fuses are not blown. If all of your fuses are good, your 1999 Chevrolet Suburban stereo or factory amplifier (if equipped) may be faulty. We suggest you take your car to an experienced audio installer and have them troubleshoot your problem. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1999 Chevrolet Suburban radio troubleshooting.

  7. my 1999 radio in my chevy suburban just stops playing then will pop back on for a few minutes later on and then go back off, anyone having that problem

  8. Preston, most late model vehicles do not have rca inputs on the factory radio to feed an audio signal to your radio. Our advice would be to replace your 1998 Chevrolet Suburban factory stereo with an aftermarket radio. It is more cost effective in the end. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  9. On a 98 suberban radio with cd player down on the bottem are there RCA jacks to hook the cd player to the radio

  10. Gary,

The wire colors at the speakers are sometimes different than the wire colors at the rear of the factory radio due to the presence of multiple wiring harnesses inside the vehicle or possibly a factory amp.

There is a easy way to see which wire is positive (+) and which wire is negative (-).

    1. Hook up both wires to the speaker (which goes to which doesn’t matter).
    2. Turn on your radio and take a look at the speaker as the music plays.
    3. If the speaker moves outward and then inward whenever a bass note plays, your wires are hooked up correctly. If the speaker moves inward and then outward whenever a bass note plays, your wires are backwards.

    Hope this helps.

  11. 1999 Chevy Suburban rear door speaker replacement…. Passenger rear door wire colors are red & tan. drivers side rear door are white & tan. I’m a bit confused as you detail Drk Blu/Lt Blu & Brn/yel above. Do you have any idea as to which color of my wires are + & -?? In looking at the factory speakers they are marked A & B…. which is +?? Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help in advance.
    Gary
