Pete, the location of the alarm module could be anywhere because the installer usually chooses the location. We suggest you take your car to an experienced car alarm installer and have them find the alarm controller. Hope this helps. Good luck with locating your 1998 Toyota Camry car alarm module.
How to determine if my recently purchased 1998 Camry has an alarm installed, and what type so i can replace the keyless remotes. Thanks in advance..Pete
Christine, you could use aftermarket actuators but it does require some electrical know how. If you don’t know how to install it, take your car to an experienced alarm installer and they should be able to take care of you. Hope this helps. Good luck.
The door lock actuators on my 98 Camry are failing. The genuine Toyota actuators are very expensive as they include the whole door lock. Can I fit after market actuators and use the original Camry wiring and control unit?
Yaad, you do not require a bypass for your 1998 Toyota Camry. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Do I need a bypass module for toyota camry 1998 xle?
Tam, as far as we know, you don’t need any extra relays to install a basic alarm system into your 1998 Toyota Camry. Your alarm system should provide you with everything you need to complete your install. Hope this helps. Good luck.
I am installing a Galaxy Remote starter on a 98 Camry. Are there relays of any sort I may need to get before installation? I don’t want to be in the middle of installation and have to stop an run out to to get them. Thanks! Tam
Andre, it is possible to remove your old alarm unit and wire in a new one. Just remember that all alarm systems don’t use the same color installation wires so always double check every wire before connecting the new alarm unit to the existing wires.
The 1998 Toyota Camry did not come with an alarm system from the factory so the location of the alarm unit varies from car to car because the alarm system was most likely installed by a third party. Most factory alarm installers place the alarm head unit near the interior fuse box or underneath the steering column for easy access to factory wiring.
One of the easiest ways to find the alarm system is to trigger the siren and listen for the clicking of the relay that powers the siren. Hope this helps. Good luck.
I would like to know if I can install a new alarm unit in my 98 camry by removing the factory alarm box and replacing it with a viper or so. This way I dont have to run wires or any kind switch to the doors and truck. If it is possible where is the location of the factory alarm unit?
Please help. I am looking to upgrade the system with a viperall in one. Remote start and alarm.
Thanks
Andre
