  1. Arvin, the problem you are probably running into is that wire harnesses made shortly after the Avalon came out were made improperly. Luckily, many manufacturers have fixed the error. Make sure when you purchase a wire harness it is was manufactured recently and make certain you receive the right one.

  2. I have a 1998 Toyota Avalon XLS with the 6 or 7 speaker option (front tweeters and rear sub). Does anybody know or have a link on how to wire a new stereo when you DO have the amplifier under the glove box? I’ve been doing some research and some people say to use a certain wiring harness however websites say it does not fit my vehicle. Others say to directly splice and bypass the factory amp… I am very confused and would appreciate some help. I want to buy an Alpine CDE-103BT and also upgrade the factory speakers. Thanks in advance.

  3. Josh, the power antenna trigger wire refers to the wire that turns on the amplified antenna system. Thanks for the additional 1998 Toyota Avalon stereo information contribution!

  4. The wiring diagram above does not include the subwoofer in the rear under the window. Also the 1998 Avalons do not have a power antenna and they do have a factory amplifier under the glove box. Other than that the diagram is very good.
