i installed a alpine cd player in my explorer. i hooked up the wire it to the aftermarket harness, plugged it and installed it to the trim. for some reason i am not getting sound out through the speakers.what can i do to fix this problem
Francisco, first double check ALL your fuses and make sure ALL your fuses are good. You can do this by using an Automotive Fuse Tester and making sure all of your fuses are not blown. If all of your fuses are good, your 1998 Ford Explorer may have a factory amp that needs to be turned on by your after market radio. The car radio amplifier trigger wire has to be wired up to turn on your factory amplifier to output sound from your speakers. We currently do not have any information on the 1998 Ford Explorer amplifier turn-on wire but hopefully someone from our Modified Life community would be able to chime in and help you out.
I am trying to install an amp in my 1998 Ford Explorer. There is no “amp trigger” wire, any suggestions? Will the “antenna trigger” wire serve the same purpose?
Ray, technically you could connect your 1998 Ford Explorer amplifier remote wire to the radio switched 12v+ wire. That way your amplifier is on whenever your 1998 Ford Explorer is on and off whenever your 1998 Ford Explorer is off. Just make sure to run an in-line fuse holder with a 1-amp fuse on the amplifier remote wire. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1998 Ford Explorer amplifier installation.
