  1. I’m completely ignorant about electronic installations. I have the 1998 chrysler town country lxi. I have an infinity basslink powered subwoofer. I want to install it with the original stereo. Basically I want to do the least amount of work to get this thing bumping. What is the simplest install configuration? anyone?

  2. I’m right in the middle of installing a Pioneer DEH-P5200HD stereo and two Kenwood Kfc-C5793Ps’s in a 1998 Chrysler Town & Country LXi. I installed the head unit first, and found I had the same problem as Russ: the audio would cut out above mid-level volume. I looked around online, and supposedly the combined amplification from the head unit amp and the Infinity amp makes the Infinity amp automatically cut power to keep from blowing the stock speakers. So I decided to try bypassing the Infinity amps, so right now I need to know which wires should go to the speakers. The wires going to the amp are different colors than the wires going from the amp to the speaker. Neither set of wires uses color-coding that matches the factory stereo harness or the custom head unit harness. I’ll post again when I figure everything out, but if anyone has the color coding information for the wires going into the amp, please let me know.

@brandon In the 8-speaker system, I believe there are four amps, one on each of the 5×7′ speakers: front right door, front left door, rear right, rear left.

  3. Brandon, as much as we would like to help you, most of the car stereo wiring information listed on our website is provided by our visitors. We currently do not have any information on the 1998 Chrysler Town Country factory amplifier location but hopefully someone from our Modified Life community would be able to chime in and help you out.

  4. I just bought a 1998 chryler town and country lxi and the radio turns on put nothing is coming out of the speakers. I have recently found out that there is a factory amp that powers these speakers but i cannot find it anywhere. could you please tell me where it located so i can begin to fix the problem.

  5. Russ, the reason your Pioneer radio is playing so low could be attributed to the fact that the factory Infinity audio system may be running on a different impedance (ohm rating). After market stereo head units output audio at 4 ohms while Infinity audio system output audio at 2 ohms. The difference in impedance (ohm rating) can cause your volume to output a higher or lower levels. You may have to remove your Infinity audio 2 ohm speakers and replace them with 4 ohm speakers to match your aftermarket radio. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1998 Chrysler Town and Country stereo installation.

  6. Ok I have a pioneer dehp3800mp work fine but when installed into a 98 chrysler t&c lxi w/infinity stereo system my volume only goes to about 24 when I used to be able to blare it now I’m trying to figure out if it because the infinity amps on the front door speakers are powering half or not on at all what is the wire color code and do I need an addition 12v to powere these on to blare the stereo that used be able to do so… before the tc got it… help plz…thx
