BunSmoke, first double check ALL your fuses and make sure ALL your fuses are good. You can do this by pulling each fuse and making sure it is not blown. If all of your fuses are good, your factory amplifier is faulty. We suggest you take your car to an experienced audio installer and have them troubleshoot your problem. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1997 Toyota 4Runner audio output troubleshooting.
I have 97 4Runner with front door and front pillar tweeters. I had a loose screw from mirror that was magentically stuck to the driver’s tweeter, causing popping noise from stereo. Then, smoke came from under the dash, car turned off before fire started. Now I fixed the mirror and screw problem, speaker wires in door look fine, fuses are fine, but all front speakers do not work. the stereo sounds fine through the rear speakers, car runs fine. Have I burned up an amp hidden under the dash? Burned up an in-line fuse? there was a-lot of smoke. Thanks, Frank
I have a ’97 4runner. The rear speakers have little to no volume. The front speakers are fine. I bought new speakers because I thought that might solve the problem. No joy. Any thoughts? When I removed the deck (factory) from the dash I noticed a crackling coming from the rear left speaker.
My ’97 4Runner radio has 1″ tweeters in the A pillar, 6 1/2″ front door and 5 1/4 rear door speakers. My issue is that you can hear the front door speakers fine, even from the back seat. But the rear speakers offer very limited volume. Is this by design or defect?
with the metra wiring harness for the 1997 4runner and the pioneer wiring harness there is a dimmer ground wire and a dimmer wire and i was trying to figure out wether or not to connect them and i needed some input
Gary, technically you could connect your amplifier turn on wire to the radio switched 12v+ wire (gray). That way your amplifier is on whenever the car is on and off whenever your car is off. Just make sure to run an in-line fuse holder with a 1-amp fuse on the amplifier turn on wire. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
If i have a stock radio, and a aftermarket amplifier and subwoofers, how do i connect my remote (blue) wire, so that my amp will only power when the ignition is turned?
