  1. Marcus, you will need some aftermarket electronics to hook up a subwoofer to your 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis factory stereo. You will need five components:

    1. Car Subwoofer
    2. Car Subwoofer Box to house your car subwoofer.
    3. Car Audio Amplifier that matches your subwoofer power needs and ohm rating.
    4. Car Amplifier Wiring Kit that can handle the power needs of your amplifier.
    5. RCA Line Out Converter to feed an audio signal from your factory radio to your aftermarket amplifier.

First run all your amplifier power from your car battery to where you plan on mounting your amplifier. Next, run your ground wire from your grounding point to your amplifier. Wire up the RCA Line Out Converter to the rear speaker wires to get a full range audio source. Next, connect one end of your RCA jacks to the Line Out Converter and the other end of the RCA jacks to your amplifier. This will provide an audio signal to your after market amp. Lastly, connect your subwoofer to your after market amplifier using the speaker wire in the amplifier wiring kit. If you’ve never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis amplifier and subwoofer installation.

  2. Ok I have the Jensen VM9214 indash radio and i installed it but when i open the radio the screen hits the top of the dash. What can i do so that will not happen?

  3. I just bought a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis. Wondering if there is a stereo from a newer model Mercury Grand Marquis (or other Mercury vehicle) that will fit into my dash that has XM Satellite capability. I know I can buy a new radio but it won’t look like it came from Mercury. I want to keep the car looking as much like it came from the factory as possible. Anyone? Thanks!

  4. Hi. Was wondering what wire, etc to look for to figure out why my son’s car radio quit working? 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis. The radio hasn’t totally quit, just extremely weak signal. Where is the antenna located on these models? Thanks! Kathy
