Okay you need a bypass wiring harness .it runs from the amp in trunk to front of the car very simple.run it just like you would a speaker hookup
I have a 1995 town car and i believe they are set up the same. the way the car is designed (retarded) is that the dash head unit is nothing more than a control panel. the “amp” in the trunk is actually just the receiver, or what would normally be located in your dash. in essence your receiver is in the trunk. the speaker outputs, the antenna…etc. so in order to install an aftermarket head unit you have to make (i do not believe that any one sells them) a wiring harness the runs from the trunk to the dash as well as integrate the existing in dash wiring. this detoured me from doing the install myself and i am waiting until i have the extra cash to have it done professionally. i hope this helps.
I am having the same exact problem as Janis DeMille (listed above). Any solutions for turning on the amplifier yet?
The antanna is in your factory amp. I had bought an after market antana at wal-mart for $12 so i didn’t have to hassle with the factory amp.
I have a 1997 Lincoln Continental Town Car and I am trying to install a walmart
Stereo,where is the Antenna?
Janis, your vehicle may have a factory amplifier that needs to be turned on by your after market radio. Unfortunately, we don’t have this information but maybe someone from the Modified Life community can post that information here. Hope this helps. Good luck.
I have a 1997 Lincoln Town Car and I have tried installing 2 different types of cd players.
I get power to the cd players I just don’t get any sound.
I went to Walmart and bought the wiring kit because the connections on the cd player were different from the connections in the car.
After all this, I still do not get any sound.
Can you help me with this?
