i have a 97 expedition with a remote DEI remote starter. the battery was dead from sitting for a while and i charged it with a trickle charger. once fully charged i tried to start the truck with the remote and a small puff of smoke rose from near the passenger side front between the grill and the battery only lower by the bumper, then it cycled three times like it supposed to only it would not roll over just cycle through the start process ( doors lock, remote clicks doors unlock and so on). i tried to start it with just the key and all the lights come on and chimes ding, but it does not roll over. I am sure it’s something simple i just cant find the possible wire that may have smoked. Any suggestion?
