John, most vehicles have a factory hole with a rubber or plastic grommet at the firewall. This is usually the standard place to run a power wire through the firewall. If one of these holes are not available or not large enough, a hole will have to be drilled to accommodate your power wire. Choose something on the engine side of the firewall as reference and try to match it up on the interior side of the firewall. This will make sure you do not drill through anything important. Then drill a hole somewhere near or beside your reference point. Make sure to use a firewall grommet to prevent the power wire from chaffing on the firewall that could potentially cause a short. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1996 Chrysler LHS amplifier installation.
Hello, I have a 1996 chrysler lhs with the 3.5 liter v6. I am trying to install an amp but cannot find an accessible hole through the fire wall. I am looking for direction on where a good port may be or if it is required to drill a new hole and pick up a garmmet to for the wire. if this is necessary where would be the best place to do so. thanks for any help with this question.
Jake, thanks for the 1996 Chrysler LHS amplifier turn-on wiring information contribution!
for those who have a problem with no sound…..besides fuses….. you amp remote and your antenna remote wirer need to be hooked up together when installing sony or pioneer those both should be joined with the radio accessory wire so the bada bing bada boom u have sound
Jim, first double check ALL your fuses and make sure ALL your fuses are good. You can do this by using an Automotive Fuse Tester and making sure all of your fuses are not blown. If all of your fuses are good, your 1996 Chrysler LHS may have a factory amplifier that needs to be turned on by your after market radio. The car stereo amplifier trigger wire has to be wired up to turn on your factory amplifier to output sound from your speakers. Hope this points you in the right direction. Good luck with your 1996 Chrysler LHS stereo installation.
