  1. Chris, first make sure your car battery is holding a charge by getting it tested by your local auto parts store. If you car battery is not holding a charge, we suggest you get a deep cycle battery. A deep cycle battery will give you more battery power and charge faster while providing twice the life span of a conventional battery. If your battery is in good condition, we advise you to get your alternator checked out at your local auto parts store. If your alternator is only putting out 11 volts, it may be starting to fail. A good alternator should put out between 13 volts to 15 volts. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme stereo troubleshooting.

  2. Do I need to connect the dimmer and illuminator wires up to an aftermarket stereo? I am having issues with the tail light fuse blowing and not too sure why. I pulled the stereo out completely and the fuse does not blow. Any ideas? I am trying to install a Sony Xplode CDX-FW500. I do not have a wiring harness to hook the wires in.
