  1. Chris, technically you could connect your 2004 Ford Focus amplifier turn on wire to the accessory switched 12v+ wire. That way your amplifier is on whenever your 2004 Ford Focus is on and off whenever your 2004 Ford Focus is off. Just make sure to run an in-line fuse holder with a 1-amp fuse on the amplifier turn on wire. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2004 Ford Focus amplifier installation.

  2. Joe, double check ALL your fuses using a Automotive Fuse Tester because certain vehicles may have a wire tied into another circuit not labeled as car radio. You may have additional fuse boxes by the driver side of the dash, passenger side of the dash, driver kick panel, passenger kick panel, under the steering column or under the hood. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2004 Ford Focus radio troubleshooting.

  3. A 2004 ford focus, we changed the battery and followed the book for the engine and transmission to relearn the computer codes but the radio and clock are dead I checked the radio fuse it’s ok. what next??? Thanks in advance for any help, Joe M.

  4. I already tried that. Like I said in my first post, if I swap the 12v hook ups, the stereo never turns off. Even if I turn the car off, remove the keys and open the door, it stays on. anyone?

  5. M, first double check ALL your fuses and make sure ALL your fuses are good. You can do this by using an Automotive Fuse Tester and making sure all of your fuses are not blown. If all of your fuses are good, your 2004 Ford Focus may have a factory amp that needs to be turned on by your after market radio. The car radio amplifier trigger wire has to be wired up to turn on your factory amplifier to output sound from your subwoofer. We currently do not have any information on the 2004 Ford Focus amplifier turn-on wire but hopefully someone from our knowledgeable Modified Life community would be able to chime in and help you out.

  6. Gina, you may have mixed up the battery constant and accessory switched wires. The battery constant always sends power to the radio to save your radio stations and other audio settings. The accessory switched wire sends power to your radio only when the key is in the ignition and your 2004 Ford Focus is on. Check your wiring and make sure the correct radio wires are hooked up to the correct wires on your factory harness. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2004 Ford Focus radio installation.

  7. I can’t get my radio stations to save. I swapped the 12v black and orange thick and the black and yellow but then my radio stays on with the car off. Please help! I hate putting in my stations manually everytime I drive.

  8. Tom, technically you could connect your 2004 Ford Focus amplifier turn on wire to the ignition switched 12v+ wire (brown wire in the ignition switch harness at the steering column). That way your amplifier is on whenever your 2004 Ford Focus is on and off whenever your 2004 Ford Focus is off. Just make sure to run an in-line fuse holder with a 1-amp fuse on the amplifier turn on wire. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2004 Ford Focus amplifier install.

  9. Hey, little problem, might even be fixed before i get a reply, but my amp has a remote wire hook up and i cannot find the correct wire to splice it on to. I’v tried the Orange/Black hook up and attatched it the the blue remote wire that comes out of the aftermarket deck (then spliced the amp remote to those two) but that didnt work. without the remote start it doesnt power on. Anyone help?

  10. Found an easier way. The factory wire harness has a GREEN/WHITE wire that I spliced into for speed sense. I think I have that wire in my car because I have cruise control.

  11. Ajo, run a wire to the ABS hydraulic unit on the driver side of the firewall under the hood and use the yellow/red wire for your car speed sense connection. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2004 Ford Focus navigation installation.

  12. Does anyone know where the CAR SPEED SIGNAL wire is? I have a Pioneer Avic-N5 and I need to splice into the car speed wire to get gps to work. Thank you for any help!

  13. Hi i recently bought a ner aftermarket deck for my 2004 ford focus everything else is perfect but when it comes to the anntena wire the plug dosent fit the hole in the new deck how should I go about this??????

  14. James, it is possible to keep your steering wheel controls while using an aftermarket stereo. You will need a steering wheel control adapter to keep your factory steering wheel controls:

Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Alpine Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Blaupunkt Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Clarion Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Eclipse Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for JVC Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Kenwood Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Pioneer Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Sony Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Valor Radio

If you have never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2004 Ford Focus steering wheel adapter installation.

  15. Hi There, Does anybody know what wire is for the steering wheel control that i have on the 2004 ford focus. I have installed an aftermarket headunit and got it working however i would like to keep the steering wheel control working too. Cheers, James

  16. Tedd, all cars have a fuse for the radio. Check ALL your fuses because certain vehicles may have 2 fuses for the stereo. The fuse box is usually located by the driver kick panel, under the steering column or under the hood. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  17. i have a problem with the wiring? i know where everything goes except there is no current on my 12 v wire…does it have a fuse somewhere?

  18. THANKYOUTHANKYOU!!! The second entry worked great on my 2004 Focus station wagon. I love this car and in my carelessness, fried the OEM mp3 cd radio it had in it. I bought an aftermarket radio and thought it would be a snap to install – NOT SO! Well I can tell you – it worked wonderfully with THE ABOVE wiring information! Thank you again. Works great!

  19. yeah this rocked i thought i was gonna have to download a bunch of junk. but i found this site on google. saved me lots ‘o time.

  20. These Wiring diagrams were very helpful, however, I did run into a snag. The Stock wires in the car seemed to be a mix between the 2003 and 2004 diagrams. I finally got the setup working using the following configuration…

Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Yellow/Green
Car Radio Ground Wire: Black/Green and White/Green
Car Radio Illumination Wire: Orange/Black (thin)
    Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: N/A
Car Stereo Antenna Trigger Wire: N/A
Car Stereo Amp Trigger Wire: N/A
    Car Stereo Amplifier Location: N/A
Car Audio Front Speakers Size: N/A
Car Audio Front Speakers Location: N/A
Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Black
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray/Black
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Red
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray/Red
Car Audio Rear Speakers Size: N/A
Car Audio Rear Speakers Location: N/A
Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Purple
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray/White
Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): White
Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray

  21. Daniel, unfortunately we don’t have the specific information youre looking for but maybe someone from the Modified Life community can post that information here. Good luck.

  22. Is there a auxiliary plug in, for ipods or of that nature on the back of the cd radio? And yes it is stock 2004 ford focus.

  23. you know, I always found it hard to find this information online and I almost never leave feedback for anything. All I want to say is thank you for posting this, you save me a lot of time on an install.

    Thank you.
