  1. Is it possible to hook up an mp3 player using an rca to mini plug cable directly to the factory stereo or do I have to buy an adaptor…do they even make an adaptor for the 2004 avalanche?

  2. Adrian, we suggest using an Apple iPod adapter that is directly connected to your radio. Here is the Apple iPod adapter you need:

Bluetooth Transmitter for 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche

If you’ve never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche Apple Ipod adapter installation.

  3. I am replacing a headunit in a 2004 Avalanche, can you tell me what the extra 18 pin connector is? I think it’s for the OnStar system. There are 6 wires – do you have wiring specs on each of these wires?

  4. Hello I have an 2004 Chevy Avalanche and I have installed a Tsunami Class-D amplifier and Rockford Fosgate 10″ T-1 subwoofer. Have power wire from AMP to battery terminal and I am popping 80 amp fuses and draining battery. There is a red box for remote jump start should the power wire be there? Also, should I get a capacitor or drop the gain? Please advise really need help. Anyone? Thanks.

  5. John, first take your battery to your local auto parts store and have them check to see if your car battery is holding a charge. If your car battery isn’t holding a charge, it may not be able to support your amplifier and subwoofer. If your car battery is holding a charge, you may have a faulty alternator that cannot handle charging your car battery and run your your amplifier and subwoofer. If you car battery is not holding a charge, we suggest you get a deep cycle battery. A deep cycle battery will give you more battery power and charge faster while providing twice the life span of a conventional battery. As for your power wire, as long as it is connected straight to the positive terminal of your battery you should be fine. ope this helps. Good luck with your 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche troubleshooting.

  6. Mike Vasconcelos

What are the cables for steering wheel control? How they work? I bought a stereo with the option steering wheel control and I want to work with the steering wheel control for my avalanche has!

  7. Mike, if you’re installing an aftermarket radio into your 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche and want to retain your steering wheel controls it is possible but it depends on the manufacturer of your aftermarket radio:

Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Alpine Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Blaupunkt Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Clarion Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Eclipse Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for JVC Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Kenwood Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Pioneer Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Sony Radio
Steering Wheel Control Adapter for Valor Radio

If you have never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche stereo installation.
