  1. I want to put in a newer model GMC GPS unit in to my 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. Anyone have any idea if I can do this or if I should just go with a new unit? Thanks

  2. This wiring shows that an amp is not available. Other web searches mention an amp under the drivers seat, covered by the carpet, that overheats and shuts off. My suburban does have some sort of box in that location… Could that be it or is it something different? The seat has been removed by a previous owner – I found that they did not put all of the bolts back in…

  3. Walt, have your dealer check for shorts by doing continuity tests on each wire coming out of the back of your radio. This will test to see if any wires are grounding out and causing your speakers to go in and out. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  4. my 3/4 ton diesel suburban radio has an intermittent in the speakers output. The sound suddenly disappears
and some time later, it comes on again. The panel shows the radio on all the time.
Brought the car to the dealer who opened the driver door panel and moved all the wires. Found nothing.
but while reassembling the door panel. the sound returned. The mechanic stated that the radio has some
tripping device that cuts the speakers out if it detects a short.
Would appreciate any helpful comments. 73 Walt
