  1. ive got power to my after-market cd player but after i turn the key off and take it out my whole cd player turns completely off, resetting it every time. What wire is it that would make my cd player have power to it when my car is off?

  2. Katrina, it sounds like you don’t have your constant 12+ wire hooked up properly. This wire needs to be hooked up correctly so that you save your station presets and radio settings when your car is off. Double check your connections. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  3. My radio doesn’t come on all the time, or when it is working, it will go off and come back on. Its like it decides when it wants to work. I bought a new radio for my contour, and I am having the same problem so I assume it is in the wiring somewhere. What should I do/ where should I look?

  4. Ryan, first double check ALL your fuses and make sure ALL your fuses are good. You can do this by pulling each fuse and making sure it is not blown. If all of your fuses are good, your factory wiring may have a short or may be faulty. We suggest you take your car to an experienced audio installer and have them troubleshoot your problem because it does take some wiring knowledge to troubleshoot a short. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1997 Ford Contour stereo troubleshooting.
