  1. my wife has a 95 ford aerostar minivan and the information i have found here is helpful but, her vehicle has two 6×9 in the mid section of the van and its not listed as to which wires are pos neg? so my question is do these to speakers also follow the rear speakers pos neg color scheme?

  2. Matt, as far as we know, the factory Ford Aerostar didn’t have any speakers in the mid section of the van. If you purchased the vehicle used, someone may have added those speakers and ran their own wires. Check the wire colors that feed the 6″ x 9″ speakers you have in your vehicle to find the correct wires. Hope this helps.

  3. My ’95 aerostar XLT also has speakers in the middle. It also has rear radio controls on the left behind the driver’s door. This seems a factory option, not a custom job.

  4. Most the Aerostars use a common ground system, which means if you are trying to upgrade to an aftermarket stereo, you will need to run new wires as anything made in the last decade uses a floating ground.

  5. I have just bought a car stereo (not the speakers) to replace an already after-market stereo in order to upgrade from cassette to CD. Upon getting into the wiring behind the after-market unit, I find that the previously placed unit had already made the conversion between the original wires to the common current color coded wires for stereo systems. They had also placed some other wires and 2 additional fuses (not just the one from the battery). I have tried to simplify and work off the original wire system. Based on what had been put in previously, the front speakers and the the radio itself works, but there doesn’t appear to be any power going to the back speakers (originals). I came to this site because I thought maybe the person who initially wired from the original colored wires to the current color coded adapter may have switched wires for the rear speakers. The original colors wires that I have for the rear speakers do not coincide with any of the wire colors that you have listed for 1994,1995,or 1996 (I checked the year prior to my vehicle year and the year following). Here are the “original” speaker wire colors that I have: beige (could be pink but turned color from age), red/black, pink/yellow, and orange/brown. I’m not sure which wires are right or left rear speakers. I know the rear speakers worked for the previously installed after-market stereo, but their additional wiring was totally confusing–not simple. At one point, I had problems with the passenger front speaker and found that they had clipped the negative wire and had wired a brown home speaker system wire to the negative and had it wired in somehow to their after-market unit. I did remove the home speaker wire and reconnected the negative wire. Now the passenger (right?) front speaker comes in loud and clear. Any help in the area of locating the proper wiring color for the rear speakers?
