is there a way to install a sub woofer and an amp into the factory stereo system? and where can i find out how
Bryan, yes it is possible to add a subwoofer and an amplifier to the factory radio. It does take some wiring knowledge and installation know-how. You would require an aftermarket amplifier, amplifier wiring, subwoofer and a speaker to rca line out converter. Here is the Line-Out Converter you need:
Scosche 2-Channel Speaker to RCA Line Out Converter
When splicing in the RCA Line Out Converter, use the rear speaker wires to get a full range audio source. If you’ve never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck.
If your amp has its own wiring harness attached to(most of them are right next to your RCA’s input), then you don’t need the LOC. Just connect the rear speakers wire with those wire that attached with the amp and before you do anything make sure to check your wiring diagrams first then you can go ahead and do the installation. Each car has different wire schematics and colors. Don’t assume that all cars have the same wire colors, that’s wrong. It’s more complicated than what you think. I’ve done this to my Honda LX-P 08 and it works great. It has a stock radio, mp3, WMA, aux input for ipod, etc…I didn’t have to use the LOC when I install my aftermarket sub and amp but I still run my RCA’s cable in case for the future installation. Have a wonderful day!!!!
