After wiring/installing another cd player/radio in my 93 Lumina I can’t get the settings to keep. Every time the radio is turned off and back on the clock and my radio stations are reset. Can you tell me what the problem may be?
EJS08, you may have mixed up the battery constant and accessory switched wires. The battery constant always sends power to the radio to save your radio stations and other audio settings. The accessory switched wire sends power to your radio only when the key is in the ignition. Check your wiring and make sure the correct radio wires are hooked up to the correct wires on your factory harness. Hope this helps.
Question if I could ask: I have a 93 Lumina with an alarm system. I need to remove it or at least take away the alarm’s power because my battery won’t charge back up while in the vehicle because the alarm drains it faster than the trickle charger can recharge it. Also, the car is beat to hell and doesn’t require an alarm any more. Do you know where I can find information to cut power to the alarm only? Thank you very much for any help you can offer.
Bill, keep in mind that some alarm systems are wired to permanently prevent car starting if the power is cut to the alarm module. Unless you are sure that your alarm system isn’t wired this way, we don’t advise you just start cutting wires. We suggest you take your car to an experienced alarm installer to troubleshoot your alarm problem. Also, make sure you get your alternator checked out, you may have a faulty alternator that isn’t charging your car as a whole. Hope this helps. Good luck.
