Shawn, run a primary wire to your steering column and use the orange wire in the ignition switch harness. This orange wire will provide you with a switched power source. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2001 GMC Yukon stereo install.
I have a 2001 GMC Yukon and my rear door speakers are not playing…..I tapped in to the front wired that are playing from the back wires and still no sound to the rear….what else can i do besides running new speaker wires from the actual radio?
Demetrio, you will need an automotive auxiliary input adapter. This adapter will allow you to input any mp3 player or portable music player into your factory radio. This is the easiest and most cost effective way to add an audio input into your factory stereo. Here is the adapter you will need:
Aux Input Adapter for 2001 GMC Yukon
If you’ve never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2001 GMC Yukon aux input adapter installation.
Is there a port where I can simply plug in my mp3 cable?
i have a 2002 GMC Yukon XL and im trying to hook up an aftermarket radio and i cant turn on my factory amp. does anyone know how or what wires to hook up so that the amp comes on and speakers play?
Carlos, first double check ALL your fuses and make sure ALL your fuses are good. You can do this by pulling each fuse and making sure it is not blown. If all of your fuses are good, your factory amplifier is faulty. We suggest you take your car to an experienced audio installer and have them troubleshoot your problem. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2001 GMC Denali audio output troubleshooting.
i have a Denali 2001, i don´t know why me left speakers stop playing any sound can you help me with that?
I am having the same problem as Francisco, I am hooking up an aftermarket receiver and everything on the unit is working but I have no sound. I am guessing the car has a factory amp that needs to be connected but I don’t know how. If anyone knows how to get the amp connected I would be very appreciative.
Mike, thanks for the 2001 GMC Yukon XL factory amplifier location contribution!
Factory amp is behind glove compartment
Very good site. Does any one know however where the factory amp is located in a 2001 GMC Yukon XL?
Francisco, your vehicle may have a factory amplifier that needs to be turned on by your after market radio. The car stereo amplifier trigger wire has to be wired up to turn on your factory amplifier. Unfortunately, we do not have this information but maybe someone from the Modified Life community can post that information here. Hope this helps. Good luck.
i bought the harness and i conected everything it turned on but the speakers dont go on
I am having the same problem as Tyree but I’m just hooking my aftermarket radio up, the issue is the Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ is not yellow, infact there is no yellow wire. What other color could it be?
Tyree, technically you could connect your amplifier turn on wire to the radio switched 12v+ wire (yellow). That way your amplifier is on whenever the car is on and off whenever your car is off. Just make sure to run an in-line fuse holder with a 1-amp fuse on the amplifier turn on wire. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
What color is the turn-on switch? Trying to hook up my Amplifier and need to know which wire is the auto turn-on switch so when the car starts up my amp automatically turns on with the radio!
