  1. Erik, we suggest you purchase an automotive auxiliary input adapter. This adapter will allow you to input any Apple iPod, mp3 player or portable music player into your factory radio. This is the easiest and most cost effective way to add an audio input into your factory stereo. Here is the adapter you will need:

If you’ve never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier aux input adapter installation.

  2. I want to add an auxillary jack for an mp3 player to the factory unit in a 2001 chevy cavalier. What is the easiest way to accomplish this? Is there some kind of harness available?

  3. modifiedlife, i want to buy an Alpine IDA-X305S head unit for my 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier, are there any concerns with wiring or installation? (Im going from the factory radio to the alpine, and I dont know much about electronic wiring). Reply back whenever you can.

  4. also, there is no pink wire in the cars wiring system for the radio..is that perhaps the purple wire that i found? it is a violet color, not bright purple, so i know its definitely not pink in color. anyone?

  5. after taking my stock radio out, i noticed if i were to connect wire-to-wire with the new radio. i would have 2 wires left over, a purple and black wire that comes out of my car. what is the purple one for? and what is the thin black wire? also, there are actually 2 black wires coming from the car. are they both ground wires?

  6. Rachel, take the wiring diagram that comes with your radio and match up those wires with the wires that are listed on this car stereo wiring diagram. Splice the correct wires together, solder properly and wrap each wire with electrical tape or use wire shrink wrap. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  7. I’m trying to figure out how to use this chart. For example: is the chart saying that you connect the first two wires together and so on down the line?
