  1. Mike, if youre inquiring about halogen headlight bulbs, almost all of them run on 55 watts of power from the factory. With that said, the amount of additional power needed is dependent on the aftermarket light bulbs themselves. Aftermarket headlight bulbs require between 55 watts and 120 watts to function. Our advice would be to stick with something as close to 55 watts as possible to prevent your headlight wires from burning out. If youre inquiring about HID headlight replacement kits, almost all of them run on 35 watts of power which your factory wiring should be able to handle without any problems. Hope this helps. Good luck with your headlight installation.

  2. The question still remains, how much additional power is required for the Xeon bulb versus the halogen bulb? Mike.

  3. Mike, if you’re looking for super white headlight bulbs, you can go with one of the two following options:

PIAA Xtreme White Plus Replacement Bulbs – or – 6000K HID Headlight Kit

Our suggestion would be to go with HID Headlight Kit because you get the same white light output as the replacement bulbs but you also get brighter light output and longer bulb life than the replacement bulbs. Also, the replacement bulbs and the HID Headlight Kit are very close in price so you’re getting more features for the same cost. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1999 Audi A6 Quattro headlight bulb installation.

  4. Help. How much more power ( volts or amps) is required for a Xeon bulb versus a halogen bulb? The application is a 1999 Audi A6 Quatro. Thanks, Mike McGee.
