For my 1997 Ford Escort LX 4 door sedan, the check engine light (and other instruments like the check oil lamp and the seatbelt lamp) all take size 37. I’ve checked the VIN, it is indeed regiterred as a 1997 ford, not the 1998, which does sometimes take size 37.
