  1. Dave, sounds obvious and I’m sure you’ve probably tried this but have you used the dimmer setting? I once thought mine had blown too. The wheel that controls the interior lighting/dash illumination (next to the light switch) also controls the brightness of the stereo display.

  2. There is a factory amp that is located under the driver seat on my 1996 Chevy Tahoe. I soldered new wires from the factory harness in the car using the above wire harness diagram. I only have the front door and the rear door wired with new wires. I hope this info helps any good luck to all.

  3. Dave, it is possible that the backlight inside the display has gone bad. Unfortunately, there is no way to replace the radio display light bulb easily. It would require an experienced stereo repair specialist to replace it and would cost a good amount of money to get it done. Our advise would be to replace your 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe stereo with an aftermarket unit. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe radio repair.

  4. The factory stereo in my 1996 Chevy Tahoe LS works but it’s display lights do not come on so I cannot tell the time or what station is playing. Any thoughts on the cause? Thanks!

  5. what wires correspond to the rear side doors? the read doors listed seem to work with the rear speakers in the way back on the roof

  6. Tony, the front door speaker wires in most late models cars are also connected to the factory tweeters. Most of the time, no extra wiring for the tweeters is necessary. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  7. are the front door speaker wires are also hooked up to the factory tweeters? if not what are the wire colors for the tweeters? for a 1996 chevrolet tahoe thanks.
