  1. Greg, please refer to the car stereo wiring diagram above. The door speakers are 4″ x 6″ in size. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  2. i have a 1991 chevy caprice, and it has a bose amp in the truck, and i was wondering if you can connect subwoofers to that amp, or if i will have to get a new amp?

  3. Paul, most installers will run the power cable from the battery, through the firewall, under the carpet (near the door sill) and to your amplifier location for hook up. Installers usually run the power wire through a rubber grommet or drill a new hole in the firewall. Just make sure you zip tie the cable down so it does not move. Also, make sure when you run the cable through the firewall that you use a rubber grommet to protect the power cable from rubbing on any bare metal. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  4. I am looking for a wiring diagram that includes the amplifier and crossover components to a factory bose sterio system to troubleshoot a 1991 Chevrolet Caprice

  5. After installing a new stereo, the unit produces a constant fuzzy noise that I think is due to not being well-grounded. I tried grounding it to everything metal in my car and sanded all metal areas, but no luck. What should I do? Also, the wire that causes the unit to turn on when the car is started is damaged; it just quit working during installation. I had to hook it up to constant battery and I manually turn on the stereo when I want it. How do I repair that wire?

  6. Monda, you can use the orange wire in your ignition switch harness in your steering column for your switch power source. Just run a wire from your radio and splice it to the orange wire. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  7. I have a 1991 caprice and my front door speakers won’t work, the speakers themselves work fine and the radio is installed correctly but they still don’t come on!! Help me please.

  8. Taymoney, make sure your amplifier turn on wire is connected otherwise you will not get any sound from your audio system. Hope this helps. Good luck on your 1991 Chevrolet Caprice radio installation.

  9. Yes I have a 1992 Chevy caprice which when you turn the radio on all you get is a squeal. This is a bose radio and I persume also a bose amplifier. Could any one tell me if an after market amplifier will work as I have been told this is the problem and we are having trouble finding a bose amplifier. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  10. I have the same issue. I just purchased a 1991 Caprice Classic with the factory Bose radio. The fuse was blown to the radio. I replaced it (fuse) and it didnt blow, but initially it would not work, but occasionally when I switch it on, it will make a faint whistling sound and slowly fades out. Not even the clock on the radio will come on. Is the radio basically done in for? The fuse for the amp is fine… I checked it too. Thanks.

  11. I don’t have a question but a correction. If you have the Bose stereo in your caprice the front speakers are 3.5 inch not 4×6 inch speakers. Others have the same thing on their websites. It sucks to figure this out after you’ve already bought everything!!!

  12. I have searched the web for direction on how to remove the radio from my 91 caprice, and the information is both confusing and conflicting. Can anyone give me simple directions? I want to install an updated unit with cd player and auxiliary in port. Any info would be great. Thanks

  13. I have a 94 chevy caprice. I recently added some subs to my system. now my car won’t start. my pass- key fault light keeps coming on. But it only stays on for about 3 mins. I ran my positive wire for my amp from the jump terminal. could this be my problem?

  14. I did mine before i wrecked it best easy way to fix anything with the P.O.S Bose is to rip it all out and put all new run wires…they’re easy to hide under carpet and dash.

Now for the install take the front of the dash out completely. Remove all screws and work your way around all the under are popping all the clips out WITHOUT breaking them you’ll need to re use them. running wires straight up is a nightmare so run them under the dash area on the glove box side because there are so many caverns to put the wires through. there should be a good size hole right beside the radio and that’s the best place to go back inside the dash and then just put it back together. and Just to clear up the other questions the speakers in my 91 with the Bose were 3.5’s in the front and 6×9’s in the back and infinte’s are awesome replacements for this car good treble to balance with subs.

  15. Yes I would like the radio wire diagram for a 1996 chevrolet caprice classic because I want to install some aftermarket speakers. In the front doors and the rear deck but I don’t know which factory speaker wire is negative or positive

  16. I have a Jensen reciever that I am trying to install in my 91 Caprice. I have it all hooked up wire-wise but have no sound at all. The reciever seems to be working but there is nothing coming from the speakers. On the reciever it says use 4 ohm speakers. I know that the speakers in the back are 10 ohm. Would this make a difference in whether or not I have no sound? Does the system not have enough power to run the speakers? Not sure what else to do….. Thanks,

  17. Robin, the reason your stereo is playing so low is because the factory audio system is running on a different impedance (ohm rating). After market stereo head units output audio at 4 ohms while your audio system outputs audio at 10 ohms. The difference in impedance (ohm rating) can cause your volume to output at higher or lower levels. You will have to remove your 10 ohm speakers and replace them with 4 ohm speakers to match your aftermarket radio. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1991 Chevrolet Caprice stereo output troubleshooting.
