2010 Fisker Karma Hybrid

For those of you that don’t know, Fisker Automotive is a green American premium sports car company catering to those who want to save the environment and look good driving through it. Fisker announced its first four door plug-in hybrid premium sports sedan called the Fisker Karma.

The Fisker Karma features cutting-edge plug-in hybrid technology which they call Q DRIVE. It was developed exclusively by Quantum Technologies for Fisker Automotive. The technology behind the Q DRIVE consists of a small gasoline engine that turns a electric generator, which charges the lithium ion battery pack. The battery pack powers the electric motor and ultimately turns the rear wheels to propel the vehicle. This technology allows consumers to drive the car emission free for up to 50 miles a day provided the Karma is charged every night. Fisker states that if consumers charge the vehicle every night, there is a possibility that they will only need to fuel the car once a year.

The company states that initial deliveries of the new Karma will begin in the 4th quarter of 2009 with annual production projected to reach 15,000 cars. Fisker automotive will also begin creating more vehicles to add to its model line. The first 99 Karma cars off the factory assembly line will be individually numbered and signed by Henrik Fisker. The starting price of the Fisker Karma is $80,000.
