I’ve installed a new stereo in my 2003 Dodge Durango SXT with a harness, but there isn’t an orange wire (Car Stereo Dimmer Wire) to plug from the new stereo to the harness. Now my Dimmer switch fuse keeps going out. So I would like to know if I can connect that Orange cable with any of the other wires in that harness that will work fine with no burn outs or damage? Thanks for your assistance!

Mikael, your 2003 Dodge Durango may have a factory amplifier that needs to be turned on by your after market radio. The car stereo amplifier trigger wire has to be wired up to turn on your factory amplifier. Unfortunately, we do not have this information but maybe someone from the Modified Life community can post that information here. Hope this helps. Good luck.
i own a 2003 dodge durango slt plus. it is an options loaded truck with top of the line infinity system. i would like to know if the truck has an amplifier, and if it does, i would like to know the location. i plan on installing an aftermarket amplifier, and would like to tap into the wiring of the factory amp if i have one.
I just bought a 2003 Dodge Durango and after it was serviced the radio does not work. The seller said it was working before servicing but I can’t confirm for sure. I was wondering if this vehicle requires a code to make it work. Any help would be great !! Thanks in advance !!!!!!!!!!! Frank
F. MacDonald, its sounds like your 2003 Dodge Durango radio may be in safe mode or anti-theft mode. You will need a unlock code to get your radio working again. Radio security codes are usually written in your car manual or given to you when you purchase the vehicle. If you do not have the radio security code, you would have to obtain it from the local Dodge dealer. Hope this helps. Good luck with unlocking your radio.
I have found a code written down in a maintenance book . But my problem is how do I go about activating this code to make the radio work ??? Any help would be greatly appreciated !! Thanks in advance !! Frank
i have a 2003 dodge durango with a infinity sound system. i was given a bazooka tube and i’m trying to wire it in. i need to locate the the remote amplifier wire or a antenna wire. all diagrams i have read have neither. can you make another suggestion please.
Jonathan, technically you could connect your 2003 Dodge Durango amplifier turn on wire to the radio switched 12v+ wire. That way your amplifier is on whenever your 2003 Dodge Durango is on and off whenever your 2003 Dodge Durango is off. Just make sure to run an in-line fuse holder with a 1-amp fuse on the amplifier turn on wire. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2003 Dodge Durango amplifier install.
This morning, I tried to hard-wire my Panasonic head unit to the wires from the dash of my durango (no infinity system). None of the wires were labeled and I used some wiring charts to just wing it and at first, It worked! I was playing music on all 4 speakers then it must’ve blown a fuse because the whole head unit cut out and I smelled something burning. Anyone know what I did wrong?
There are 2 black wires coming from the dash (i think they’re ground wires) and 1 black coming from my harness. I left 1 black from the dash unconnected. Also, I couldn’t find a connection for a purple/green wire (from the dash) and it doesn’t show up on any diagrams. I left that unconnected too.
Any help would be appreciated!!
