Hi. I am in the process of installing a radio from a 2006 mitsubishi diamante into another car.I first made temporary connections to the 4 speakers and the 12v power in order to test the installation prior to final hook up, I noticed that after the radio had operated on FM and CD mode for about 15 minutes that the rear of the radio was quite hot to the touch. Is this typical for this CD radio, or could it be a sign of impending failure and possibly a fire.

It’s hard to say whether or not its a sign of overheating or if its normal because we’re not there but what we can say is that some factory radios have the amplifier built into the back of the radio which can cause the radio to get hot. Hope this helps.
