Can you tell me how many Amps the stock stereo system in the 06 monte has? I put a sony receiver and in order to have my stereo on, I have to have my lights on because I have to have the power from the stereo running from the dimmer cable on the wiring harness, so I have to turn my lights on during the day to use my stereo. So im going to wire it so that the stereo is on all the time, and im going to wire a switch that i’ll mount in my dash kit. I need to know the number of amps that are running through it so I know what kind of switch to buy…Thanks!!!!
Scott, if you’re not familiar with mobile installations, we advise you to take your car to an experienced car radio installer. Good luck.
How do I remove the radio for my 2006 Chevy Monte Carlo. I don’t know what panels to pull off
what wires do i use as L / R output to the amp on a 2000 chevy monte carlo
Just a few Q’s before my factory 06 Monte deck gets demoted. When wiring in a new stereo vs going the easy (expensive harnass) route, am I going to have any issues w my Onstar working? And I have heard that in the years prior models of Montes that it was wise to keep the factory deck on hand incase you had to clear out any computer codes & such. Is that also tru with an 06 Monte or am I in the clear?
how do u remove rear factory speakers on a 2006 chevrolet monte carlo
Jesse, you can get to the rear speakers on most late model cars one of two ways. You can remove the rear speaker grills from some vehicles simply by removing screws that hold down the speaker grills to the rear deck lid. These screws are usually located on the bottom side of the rear deck (accessible through the trunk). The second way would require you to remove the deck lid from the interior of the car. On some cars removal of the rear seats is required to get to the rear deck lid. Hope this helps. Good luck.
2006 Monte Carlo 12v switched power wire. I thought I would have to find a switched 12v power source under the hood, BUT NO. There is one connected to the air conditioning and heating controls. I pulled the harness from the heating controls and attached the red positive wire to each hole until I saw the power on my stereo go on. Then I had a buddy in the front seat turn off the car and take the key out, if the stereo was still on then we knew it was the wrong wire. We found it (in the a/c harness) I’m pretty sure it was pink. I burned the wire about 3″ from the harness to expose the copper and electrical taped the red 12v wire to the pink wire of the a/c harness and that did it. I could not find this info online anywhere so I hope it helps.
Garret, thanks for the 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo radio wiring installation contribution!
what size r the stock speakers, front and rear of a 2006 Chevy Monte Carlo LTZ with the 6 CD changer and XM? also how hard is it to swap them out?
My 2006 Monte Carlo does NOT have the factory amp under the rear deck lid, do all the wires for all 4 speakers still run past there? this would make installing an aftermarket amp much easier.
William, whether you have an factory amplifier or not depends on your audio system. It sounds like your 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo may not have a factory amplifier. If this is true, your speakers wires will only be available at your factory radio harness behind the car stereo. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo amplifier install.
