I had bestbuy install a Clarion indash dvd head unit and after 4 visits, they ended up going through 3 wiring harnesses and came to the conclusion to bypass the factory amp in order to get sound.

Jon, your vehicle may have a factory amplifier that needs to be turned on by your after market radio. The car stereo amplifier trigger wire has to be wired up to turn on your factory amplifier. Unfortunately, we don't have this information but maybe someone from the Modified Life community can post that information here. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I'm trying to hook up a clarion indash dvd. All of the wires are matched up correctly, but when it turns on there's no sound coming out of the speakers. Do i have to bypass the factory amp? if so how do i do that?

Dustin, run a wire to your steering column and tap the violet/brown wire (accessory switched power) in your ignition switch harness. You must use a 560 ohm resistor on that wire because it is the same wire as the second engine starter wire. If you don't know how to use resistors, run a wire to the fuse box and find a switched power source (power with the key in the ignition AND power off when the key is out AND power off when starting your car). Hope this helps. Good luck.
