i have a 2004 gto.The sound system went out all at once.the radio turns on, but no sound from any speakers.checked fuses, they are okay.as far as i know, the speakers are not wired so that if one goes they all go.what would cause all speakers to not work at the same time?
check the amp it shut off
The left rear speaker wires are yellow/white & yellow/red.
The right right speaker wires are green/white & green/red.
Which one are positive and which are negative?
I have a quick question. i just installed a brand new head unit stereo (sony xplod) for my 2004 pontiac gto. nothing too big or fancy, just a regular stereo. for some reason, every time i try to store my radio stations it doesn’t save. that’s every time i take the key out of the ignition its like i never stored my stations at all. so i have to store them every time i turn on the car and when i take the key out its all lost. any ideas? i took it to the place where they installed it and they said my car is basically like a Cadillac that it doesn’t have a memory? any ideas if maybe the wires are cross wrong or something?
John, you may have mixed up the battery constant and accessory switched wires. The battery constant always sends power to the radio to save your radio stations and other audio settings. The accessory switched wire sends power to your radio only when the key is in the ignition and your 2004 Pontiac GTO is on. Check your wiring and make sure the correct radio wires are hooked up to the correct wires on your factory harness. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2004 Pontiac GTO radio installation.
