I have a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta 1.8t and my radio shut off the other day. Blew the radio 25 amp fuse, I tried changing that out and it blew instantly. Removed the radio and ohmed out the wires and found the Illumination wire is grounded, and when I turn the headlight switch one turn the ground goes away. Does the Illumination wire just run to the headlight switch harness? Hoping I can just run a new wire instead of tearing into the whole wire loom and dash. anyone? Thanks.
Hi, I have a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta VR6 with the monsoon system in it. I need to get a wiring diagram with the wire colors for the wires where it enters the monsoon amp in the trunk. If there is any way you can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Rick – did you find a resolution to your problem? I have the same issue…my battery was disconnected on my GLS for a few days and now I have NO POWER on my radio and CD which was working fine previous to that. I don’t have power at all, which means I don’t see “safe” or “anti-theft” or anything on the screen. it’s just blank, powerless. Any ideas on how to solve?
Alex, technically you could connect your 2001 Volkswagen Jetta amplifier turn on wire to the radio switched 12v+ wire. That way your antenna is on whenever your 2001 Volkswagen Jetta is on and off whenever your 2001 Volkswagen Jetta is off. Just make sure to run an in-line fuse holder with a 1-amp fuse on the amplifier turn on wire. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2001 Volkswagen Jetta antenna harness install.
I purchased an antenna adapter for my 2001 Jetta single din stereo. It’s amplified. Question is, where do I connect the antenna power supply. The harness doesn’t have a place for it.
Rick, its sounds like your 2001 Volkswagen Jetta radio may be in safe mode or anti-theft mode. You will need a unlock code to get your radio working again. Radio security codes are usually written in your car manual or given to you when you purchase the vehicle. If you do not have the radio security code, you would have to obtain it from the local Volkswagen dealer. Hope this helps. Good luck with unlocking your 2001 Volkswagen Jetta radio.
Ok my 01 jetta had its battery out and now there is nothing at the sterio, wont power on at all to give me a “safe:” or “1000” code. It is getting power everywhere it should( tested each point on the harness with ignition on and off, the question is on plug #3 pin#1. Should it have a continuous +12 or should the 12 go out when the ignition is on.
The radio isn’t hard to pull out. There are two verticle slits. Put the radio removing tool into it and pull it out. That is for the single din head unit. I’m not sure about the double din. Don’t forget the other fuses inside the car.
Hi
Can you tell me what the rear fuse runs in the back of my 2002 Jetta Monsoon radio.
The display works but no sound, I tried pulling out fuse 42 but no luck still no sound.
Is it hard to pull the radio out to check this fuse?
Jp
I have a 2001 Jetta with the Monsoon radio. I don’t seem to be getting any power to the CD changer in the trunk. I have stock everything, can anyone shed some light on this?
Patrick, we’re glad we could help you with your 2001 Volkswagen Jetta car stereo wiring diagram needs.
Thank you guys for posting this – helped us tons today getting our new radio up and running.
i want to hide my power wire for my amp and was wondering if anyone knew the best way to do it.
where are the door speaker fuses located
Kaiksowa, unfortunately you would have to purchase a radio made for your country. Hope this helps. Good luck.
I have a US spec 2001 VW Jetta with a Monsoon Radio/CD changer. I shipped this overseas and discovered that the tuner only picks up stations on odd frequencies, e.g. 100.9 then 101.1, no 100.8, 101.0 or 101.2, and so on. Many stations out here broadcast on even frequencies. Is there any way I can fix this?
Anam, the fuse box can be found under the steering wheel and to the left (behind the panel). The car stereo fuse can be found there. Remember to also check that the fuse on the back of radio itself is not blown. As for the code, if you didn’t receive it when you bought your 2001 Volkswagen Jetta then the only place you can get it is at the dealer. Hope this helps. Good luck.
I just got my alternatore change in my 2001 VW jetta 18T. for some reason I dont have power in my audio system. I need to know where to look for fuse. Everything else is working fine. I took the audio out but don’t see any type of fuse. I am sure when I will see “safe” on my display then only I will be able to put the code if thats the issue and I also I need to know where I could find the code.
Thanks
Anam
