Cole, it sounds like you have some of your wiring is incorrect. Double check and confirm that all your connections are correct. As for the remote wire, technically you could connect your 2001 Toyota 4Runner amplifier turn on wire to the accessory switched 12v+ wire. That way your amplifier is on whenever your 2001 Toyota 4Runner is on and off whenever your 2001 Toyota 4Runner is off. Just make sure to run an in-line 1-amp fuse on the amplifier turn on wire. Hope this helps. Good Luck with your amplifier install.

in my 01 4-runner i have a boss 1600 watt amp along with to 12" subs with a sony c.d. player, when i 1st installed it it workd fine but for the last year my remote wire has caused a lot of frustration. i have been removing my fuse from the amp to turn it off bc i cannot keep the remote wire hooked up... is there a better place to run the remote wire other than the fuse box, bc everytime i put it in another fuse spot(turn signals, dash lights, ignition) weird stuff happens. the following thing have happend after 2 days being placed in each of those spots: in the dash lights fuse position i can take my key out, the radio does the power off beep, everything is off i have the key in my hand and the engine keeps running until i pull the remote wire out, in the other places my motor shuts off but my air conditioner contiues running and my running lights will not go off even with the parking break on. It is absolutely the craziest thing ive ever seen! n e advice?
