  1. Matthew, when the blue light turns solid when the alarm system is in valet mode. Valet mode disables the alarm system but keep the keyless entry functions. The alarm system may still be in working order but just needs valet mode to be turned off. It would be hard to say how to turn off valet mode because different alarm systems have different procedures to turn valet mode off. Our advice would be to take your car to an experienced car alarm installer. They would be able to identify your alarm and should be able to turn off valet mode in a matter of a couple minutes. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2001 Dodge Intrepid alarm troubleshooting.

  2. I just bought a 2001 Dodge Intrepid from a private sale. it didn’t come with any literature or manuals. last night I noticed the blue in-dash LED light that denotes the status of the alarm system turned on WHILE I was driving, stayed on, and a few hours later that night turned off and resumed operation as normal. while the light was SOLID blue the alarm system refused to turn on (although power locks worked).

Anywhere I can go to find out the exact make/model of my car alarm? (the owner told me it was factory), and where I can get troubleshooting information, for situations such as that?

thank you very much, in advance!

  3. Roger, there could be any number of problems causing your car alarm not to work properly. Our suggestion would be to remove the car alarm and re-install a new alarm. That way you will know the alarm is in good working condition. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2001 Dodge Intrepid alarm troubleshooting.

  4. i am working on a 2001 dodge intrepid, it already has basic alarm with lock, unlock, trunk and panic with the park/head lights tied in. I bought it like a month ago but wont work…i change the battery and still don’t work..any suggestions???

  5. Gavin, as far as we know, only one of those wires has to be spliced into a relay. Since your 2001 Dodge Intrepid requires a negative wire. If the installation manual says the white wire is negative then you would require that wire. the installation manual says the white/brown wire is negative then you would require that wire. This wire needs to be the trigger wire in a relay and when trigger the relay has to send a signal to the yellow wire via a 110 ohm resistor. If you are not familiar with relay wiring, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer as it is complicated. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  6. I have a viper 5901 security and remote start system installed, my only issue is the alarm has two wires designated for the park lights and the park light flash feature. One of the is white and the other one is white w/ a brown stripe. Now i know the all white goes to the yellow wire at the headlight switch but where does the other one go in order to activate the park light flash feature. I need a specific wire

  7. Dale, it may not be that easy to install a remote starter in a car with an existing alarm system. Different alarm system and remote starter systems are hooked up differently. Our advice is to either take your car to an experienced installer – or – install an all-in-one alarm and remote starter system for easy install. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  8. i am working on a 2001 dodge intrepid, it already has basic alarm with lock, unlock, trunk and panic with the park/head lights tied in. I want to tie in another alarm system to it that has a remote start feature is there a way to do this without the need of resistors and such to just tie into the other system?
