i just hook up an after market cd player in my 2001 chrysler 300m. the radio plays but the cd player want play. anyone have any ideas of whats going on?

Bubbal, technically you could connect your Chrysler 300M amplifier turn on wire to the radio switched 12v+ wire. That way your amplifier is on whenever your Chrysler 300M is on and off whenever your Chrysler 300M is off. Just make sure to run an in-line 1-amp fuse on the amplifier turn on wire. As for the running of the power cable, most installers will run the power cable from the battery, through the firewall, under the carpet (near the door sill) and to your amplifier location for hook up. Just make sure you zip tie the cable down so it does not move. Also, make sure when you run the cable through the firewall that you use a rubber grommet to protect the power cable from rubbing on any bare metal. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Okay. my brother has the 2001 Chrysler 300M, his two front speakers blew out and we decided to replace them, so that means we have to put in our stored up subwoofers and amp and the wires in the process- since we are going into it, might as well, right? Couple of Q’s…
1) Leaving the stock deck in the car, we have the RCA adapter to wire into the rear speaker to hook up the amp, but how do I connect the Remote wire?
2) What is the best way to run the amp’s power wire up to the battery in this particular car. I have done it in a couple cars now, and this one is by far my most difficult one yet.

Kevin, if you’re trying to replace the factory amplifier with an aftermarket amplifier, it is not universal. You cannot just take the factory one out and plug the wires into an aftermarket one. It does requires wiring know-how. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I have a silly question or maybe it’s applies to something that seems logical to me. When installing a new system aren’t the plugs that are required to power each device universal. So could I take the amp from my system and plug a new amp in to the sam position the factory amp is in. and take new speakers and plug them into the spots the factory speakers are. and plug a new deck in the same spot as th eold deck?

Cameron, your 2001 Chrsyler 300m may have a factory amplifier that needs to be turned on by your after market radio. The car stereo amplifier trigger wire has to be wired up to turn on your factory amplifier. Unfortunately, we don’t have this information but maybe someone from the Modified Life community can post that information here. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I have a 2001 Chrysler 300m and decided to replace it with a new Sony deck (Sony MEX-BT2500). I bought two seperate wiring harnesses. One that went from the car’s manufactured plugs to a generic male end, and then I bought one that went from the sony stereo to the female end of that generic plug. So in all a very clean and easy effort.

The stereo turns on fine and the cd player reads the cds, but there is no sound. It is like the speakers just aren’t hooked up. I could just cut the wires and do it myself but I figured that it should work, but thought maybe I’d ask for help!!

Modifiedlife–thanks a bunch. A couple of followup questions…..

1). What color is the amp turn on wire? Above it says this wire is N/A
2). The factory amp is located in the trunk?
3). To bypass I would assume you would jumper around the to plugs which insert into the amp.

Tom, your vehicle may has a factory amplifier that needs to be turned on by your after market radio. Make sure your amp turn on wire is getting voltage at your factory amplifier. This will confirm that you radio is turning on your amp. If your radio is turning on the amp then it is a possibility that the infinity amp has died and needs to be replaced or bypassed. I have a 2001 300m. A year ago the sound system began to act flaky. When cold the radio and CD player would play fine. After warming up (an hour), if the radio station was changed the system would stop playing. Now the system will not play at all. The radio would still find stations, however no sound. I was told by the dealer, that the CD player had gone out. Thinking I would beat this, I purchased a Sony from Crutchfield and installed. The same thing–no sound. I am at a loss for the solution. Could it be the Infinity amp?

Edward, here are some ideas of how to remove the rear deck. Some vehicles require you to remove the rear sets before being able to remove the rear deck – or – you may be able to remove the speaker grills from the under side of the rear deck (accessible form the trunk). Hope this helps.

There is a center dash speaker that I am trying to figure out which wire controls it and have had no luck so far. This is for the Infinity system.
