  1. Hello, I have a 2000 vw jetta and im replacing the speakers with aftermarkets. When i wired the negative and positives to the new speaker no sound came out, is there another german secret to the speaker wiring also? Please help, thank you.

  2. Hello, I have a 2000 Jetta that I just bought and the stereo is in Safe Mode. I know I need to enter the code, and I found it in the trunk but my display never flashes 1000 like I’ve read in numerous posts. The only button that does anything to the display is if I hold down the F/B button and Safe flashes but it still doesn’t allow me to enter the code. Help! anyone? Thanks!

  3. Chris, run a primary wire to your steering column and use the black/red wire in the ignition switch harness. This black/red wire will provide you with a switched power source. We suggest you invest in some solid wire taps that wont come loose. These wire tap connectors will allow you to tap into wires without cutting and installs in seconds by hand with no crimping or tools required. If you’ve never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2000 Volkswagen Jetta stereo installation.

  4. I have a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta. It has the double din hole with a tape deck up top and cd player underneath. I just removed the decks and replaced them with a single cd player using a wiring harness as suggested… When the install was finished the stereo plays and functions great, however the lights remain in on the player even when the car is off and the key is removed. Can you help?

  5. Josh, first double check ALL your fuses and make sure ALL your fuses are good. You can do this by using an Automotive Fuse Tester and making sure all of your fuses are not blown. If all of your fuses are good, your 2000 Volkswagen Jetta may have a factory amp that needs to be turned on by your after market radio. The car radio amplifier trigger wire has to be wired up to turn on your factory amplifier to output sound from your speakers. We currently do not have any information on the 2000 Volkswagen Jetta amplifier turn-on wire but hopefully someone from our knowledgeable Modified Life community would be able to chime in and help you out.

  6. Where the diagram for the amp? I have power to the stereo and hooked up speakers but no sound because the amp doesn’t seem to be on are the power wires for the amp with the wire harness.

  7. Having the wire colors would be very helpfull to those that have had their deck stolen along with the factory connector.

  8. Frank, we suggest you connect your RCA Line Out Converter to the stereo wire harness behind your factory radio or at the factory amplifier (if equipped). Tapping wires inside the doors requires a lot more work than tapping wires at the radio harness or amplifier. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2009 Volkswagen Jetta audio installation.

  9. I have a 2009 volkswagen jetta and Im trying to connect a line out converter to the back speakers so I wont have to pull out the factory radio. The problem is, theres are no back speakers, All of the speakers are at the door. Is this connection possible? if so, whats the easies way to connect this? Thanks

  10. I have a 2000 volkswagen jetta but the radio is on safe mode, display shows [02 safe mode[. I have the radio security code, how I can unlocked the radio. 0594. thanks for any help….

  11. Ive got a 2004 jetta with an aftermarket radio and subwoofers. i recently bought a graphic equalizer and was wondering if i would be able to connect that to the stock amp for the speakers (which are still stock) thank you.

  12. Jane, its sounds like your 2000 Volkswagen Jetta radio may be in safe mode or anti-theft mode. You will need a unlock code to get your radio working again. Radio security codes are usually written in your car manual or given to you when you purchase the vehicle. If you do not have the radio security code, you would have to obtain it from the local Volkswagen dealer. Hope this helps. Good luck with unlocking your 2000 Volkswagen Jetta radio.

  13. i have a 2000 vw jetta… And i had the battery changed for the first time and my radio did not work after. The power goes on but it does not say ”code” so i can recode the radio… Does this mean that my radio will no longer work?? I can turn the radio on and off but nothing else works. Can you tell me if my radio is a lost cause?? Thank you.

  14. My 2000 jetta does not have a stereo in it and I’ve been told that this is why my alarm goes crazy when it’s unlocked from the outside, either with the FOb our key. Is this the case and can I connect some of the “anti theft” wires in plug 3, in order to make it work? or does it have to have a stereo in it??
Thanx for any info on the subject….

  15. Mike, most late model vehicles do not have rca outputs on the factory radio to feed an audio signal to your aftermarket amplifier. You would have to install a line out converter to supply an audio output. Here is the Line-Out Converter you need:

Scosche 2-Channel Speaker to RCA Line Out Converter

When splicing in the RCA Line Out Converter, tap your factory rear speaker wires to get a full range audio source. We suggest you invest in some solid wire taps that wont come loose. These wire tap connectors will allow you to tap into wires without cutting and installs in seconds by hand with no crimping or tools required. If you’ve never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your 2000 Volkswagen Jetta to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  16. hi, I have a 2000 volkswagen jetta with original cassette monsoon system and was wondering if i could plug an aux cable in the back so i could plug an mp3 on it? Thank you

  17. Carolyn, an aftermarket stereo installation into a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta will require a dash kit, wiring harness adapter and antenna adapter. There are plenty of people who have utilized their factory amp and existing speakers with an aftermarket radio. As long as you find a knowledgeable car stereo installer, you should have nothing to worry about. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  18. I have a 2000 VW Jetta with – VW factory stereo deck w/Cassette and Monsoon Sound System, and CD changer. I want to replace the head unit with a new aftermarket unit that has a single CD, ipod connection and built-in bluetooth. I have talked to an installer who told me that I would need a dash kit and wiring harness adapter. Would I also have to have a VW antenna adapter? I was also told that because it’s a Monsoon System, they might have to re-do all the speaker wires. This would be quite expensive. Could you tell me if it indeed would be necessary to re-wire for the speakers? I planned on utilizing the existing speakers. Any help, advice or input would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!
