Erik, your 1999 Toyota 4Runner has a factory amplifier that needs to be turned on by your after market radio. The car stereo amplifier trigger wire has to be wired up to turn on your factory amplifier. Unfortunately, we do not have this information but maybe someone from the Modified Life community can post that information here. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Im changing stock stereo 99 4runner no cd player to a kenwood. I got the kenwood power and ground right. But there is no sound to speakers I know the stereo works cause i connected a free speaker and theres output but in the car it does not work. I think it has something to do with a preamp or amp stock in the car can i bypasss amp(cut wire and goe direct or what should i do.

Justin, the accessory switched wire sends power to your radio only when the key is turned to the on position in the ignition. It shouldn’t be used to control the antenna.
