Jason, some car alarm systems have external shock sensors which can be adjusted externally. Some car alarms have a built-in shock sensors which can only be adjusted via alarm programming. If you have never adjusted or programmed your alarm system before, our advice is that you take your car to an experienced alarm installer. It should not take more than 30 minutes from start to finish to adjust it. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1999 Mercury Cougar shock sensor adjustment.
