Installed new radio in my 1999 mercedes c280. no sound to speakers. I have sound to all wires leaving radio and adapter plugs. there is an extra 3 wire plug from stock radio. I have adapter plugs from original radio to new radio . all colors match. is there a speaker relay that is not being energized. anyone?

Ron, first double check ALL your fuses and make sure ALL your fuses are good. You can do this by using an Automotive Fuse Tester and making sure all of your fuses are not blown. If all of your fuses are good, your 1999 Mercedes C280 may have a factory amp that needs to be turned on by your after market radio. The car radio amplifier trigger wire has to be wired up to turn on your factory amplifier to output sound from your speakers. Double check that your 1999 Mercedes C280 amp turn on wire is connected. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 1999 Mercedes C280 stereo installation.

Thank you for your information.. I have gone though the fuses and checked them they are fine.. now you speak of a factory amp.. I probably have that this has the bose speaker system.. I am not sure the location of the factory amplifier.. and if there is any inline fuses or unit fuses in amplifier also.. This is a factory radio and sound system not after market..The radio seeks and locks on stations but no sound at all from speaker not even static.. this car was bought new from the dealer and I’m the second owner and I thought the only problem was the radio code which I had and entered.. thanks. any idea of component locations would help.. thanks.

I have a 1999 mercedes 280c factory radio not working.. I do not have any sound from the speakers not even static. the 1999 mercedes 280c radio has bose speaker system.. I have checked all the fuses in the fuse box. unless there are some inline fuses also. I am not sure but it may have an amplifier also due to bose speakers.. the system itself is a factory unit.. I could use a component location for an amplifier and also I might add that the radio powers up, seeks to stations and locks on. I sure would love to have some sound from the 1999 mercedes 280c speakers.. Please Help.. Thank you.
